What’s new in this second edition?
I always tell myself that in everything I do, there’s room for improvement. No matter the task or project, a new way of thinking can improve your process, or perhaps help you acquire new skills or tools.
Writing a book about a platform that’s always evolving is reason enough to get back to it and enhance its contents. This edition includes new recipes to tackle even more scenarios covering desktop flows, mixed reality, geospatial services, and external access with Power Pages.
Which chapter did you enjoy writing the most?
I really enjoyed building the recipes for this book. I love the whole low-code concept of Power Apps, from the model-driven side to Power Apps Component Framework, and from creating integration solutions with the help of Power Automate to solving a real-life issue with the help of mixed reality.
If I have to choose, it would be between Extending the Platform and Tips, Tricks, and Troubleshooting—a developer’s life is way better with components and because finding workarounds to solve issues is a rewarding feeling.
Who is the ideal reader of this book?
This book is best suited for someone who has started to work with Power Apps and is eager to take the platform to its limits. It will help you expand your problem-solving skills using the Power Platform. Getting to know all the components will serve you well in building powerful solutions.
What possibilities in Power Apps are you most excited to see develop in the future?
It’ll be interesting to see deeper integration between components of the Power Platform, but even more, improvements in the Power Fx language to help the application building process. Speaking of which, I’d love to see Power Fx everywhere in the platform.
I’m also looking forward to improvements in all of its code editors. Thankfully, these enhancements are a top priority for Microsoft.
